RIM's BlackBerry service: We Already Pay Taxes - Manufacturers and service providers BlackBerry Research In Motion (RIM) refute the claim that it does not pay taxes in providing its services in Indonesia. This is confirmed Gregory Wade, Managing Director of South East Asia on the sidelines of RIM's BlackBerry Developer Conference (Devcon) Asia 2011 in Nusa Dua, Bali.
"We have paid our taxes and will continue to comply with regulations in force in any country of our services available," said Gregory Wade, to a number of local and foreign journalists on Thursday (13/01/2011). He also reiterated that RIM is committed to comply with applicable laws in Indonesia.
The statement clarified the news today that the Minister of Finance will collect taxes RIM. Earlier, Minister of Communications and Information Tifatul Sembiring also reveal that RIM did not pay a dime of profit tax during that reach more than Rp 2 trillion per year from BlackBerry services in Indonesia.
In its official statement, RIM said it has paid all taxes imposed as other goods importing company. Related to BlackBerry services in Indonesia, RIM also feel have contributed significantly to boost the economy in Indonesia and contribute a great advantage for operators who become partners.
As a commitment, RIM has established PT RIM Indonesia, which has recognized the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) and has opened offices in Jakarta since November 2010.
